Two men charged for allegedly stabbing and robbing a taxi driver

A 21-year-old chef John Oliver Navitalai King and 19-year-old mechanic Hendry Pickering of Navutu Lautoka who are charged for allegedly stabbing and robbing a taxi driver at Reservoir road in Lautoka on Wednesday have been further remanded in custody by the Lautoka Magistrates Court.

Both are each charged with one count of attempted murder, aggravated robbery, theft and serious assault.

King and Pickering asked the court to give them more time to seek legal aid assistance.

The case will be called again on 7th of next month.

It is alleged that they stole a taxi from Lautoka and stabbed the taxi driver and fled in the vehicle.

It is also alleged that they hit a police checkpoint and the vehicle was found at Saweni Road.
