Two men and a woman charged for their alleged involvement in causing the death of a 49-year-old man in Korotari remanded in custody

Two men and a woman charged for their alleged involvement in causing the death of a 49-year old man from Korotari on the 5th of June, 2022 have been remanded in custody by the Labasa Magistrates Court.

This is in relation to the case where a 58 year old man of Wailevu, Labasa allegedly ran over his own passenger which resulted in the death of the man on Nasikasika cane access road.

The first accused, a 27-year old Shumenda Chandra has been charged with one count of assault causing actual bodily harm and conspiracy.

The second accused, 27-year-old Muqtadeer Saif Kaiyum is charged with one count of conspiracy while the third accused, 26-year-old Joji Bale has been charged with one count for conspiracy.

All accused appeared before Magistrate Bimsara Jagodage and were remanded in custody until the 30th of June and the case has been transferred to the Labasa High Court.

Police confirm the fourth suspect is yet to be questioned as he is scheduled to be escorted to Suva for medical treatment.
