Two man arrested over alleged yaqona thefts in Taveuni

A 35-year-old man and a 36-year-old man remain in police custody for their alleged involvement in a series of yaqona thefts in Taveuni.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Kasiano Vusonilawe says a task force deployed to the island last week has been directed to identify and investigate individuals suspected of stealing crops.

Police say information gathered suggests that a group is behind the thefts and efforts are now focused on locating and arresting all those involved.

The two man remain in custody as investigations continue.

People are urged to come forward with any information by contacting Crime Stoppers on 919 or the National Command Centre on 9905296.
