Two former Labasa Town Council officials front court for allegedly stealing coins from parking metres

Two former Labasa Town Council officials have fronted the Labasa Magistrates Court for allegedly stealing coins from the parking metres around Labasa Town.

Ashok Kumar and Sashi Kant Shandil have each been charged by FICAC with one count of Theft under the Crimes Act of 2009.

The two people previously served as the Head of Department for the Parking Metre section and Messenger for the Council.

Footage obtained from surveillance cameras showed the men collecting coins from the parking meters and putting it in their pockets.

They have been released on bail.
