The National Disaster Management Office is advising communities on the islands of Ogea, Vatoa and Ono-i-Lau in the Lau Group that there is no longer a tsunami threat.

This is in regards to the alert by the Seismology Department where a 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck 211km South-East from Neiafu, Tonga.

NDMO is also advising the communities on this islands to remain observant and exercise caution.

They say people should listen to the radio or television for emergency information and if they hear a tsunami warning or become aware of any of the warning signs, evacuate and seek higher ground immediately.
