US President Donald Trump has been taken to hospital less than 24 hours after testing positive for coronavirus.

Trump began displaying "mild symptoms" of COVID-19 yesterday after disclosing that he and his wife had gone into quarantine late Wednesday.

White House has stated that he received a cocktail of drugs as a precautionary measure and was feeling fatigued.

He was transported to Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre. A White House spokesperson highlighted in a statement that Trump remains in good spirits, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day.

They say he will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden says Trump’s diagnosis was a “not a matter of politics, but a bracing reminder to all that to take this virus seriously.

Biden tested negative for COVID-19 on Friday after sharing the debate stage with him on Tuesday. Biden says they should be patriotic as this is not about being a tough guy but about doing your part.
