Trough of low pressure expected to affect the country from later today

A heavy rain alert is in force for the Western half of Viti Levu which includes areas from Sigatoka to Rakiraki and is also in force for the Yasawa and the Mamanuca Groups, Kadavu and the nearby smaller Islands.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure is expected to affect the country from later today.

They say that showers are expected to become frequent from later this afternoon.

Heavy rain can cause flooding of low lying areas.
