The tropical depression which is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone by tomorrow afternoon, still lies to the West of the Fiji Group.
Nadi Weather Office Director, Alipate Waqaicelua said the indications are clear that the system is expected to develop into a cyclone and people in the Western parts of Fiji are expected to be affected.
Waqaicelua said heavy rain is expected from today and they are now conducting assessments on water and river levels.
He said people in the Western division should be prepared however other areas will also experience strong winds and continuous heavy rain.
The forecast for today is cloudy with periods of rain throughout, more persistent and heavier in the West and the North.
