Tropical depression expected to form tomorrow

Tropical depression expected to form tomorrow
A heavy rain alert is now in force for Western Viti Levu, Yasawa and the Mamanuca group.

Nadi Weather office Director, Alipate Waqaicelua said a tropical depression is expected to form over Fiji from tomorrow.

A trough of low pressure with associated cloud and showers lies over Fiji and is expected to gradually move east.

Tomorrow a deepening low pressure system with an associated active trough is expected to move towards the group from the west and affect the country with heavy rain and strong winds.

Waqaicelua added rain will be heavy and may also cause flash flooding.

The forecast for the Fiji Group today is showers becoming heavy and frequent later in the day over most places.
