Trial of man who allegedly raped granddaughter to start on the 5th of October

The trial of a 72-year-old man who allegedly raped his 9-year-old granddaughter in Naitasiri will start on the 5th of October.

The man is facing three counts of rape and a count of indecent assault and the alleged incidents happened between 2018 and 2019.

The man also applied for bail before High Court Judge, Justice Riyaz Hamza today.

Justice Hamza has adjourned the case till the 28th of August for a bail hearing.

The man has been further remanded in custody.
