Traffic jam on Kings Road continues as WAF works on the sinkhole

Expect the traffic jam to continue along Kings Highway as the Suva bound lane between Wainivula Road and Cunningham Road is still closed.

Drivers can now exit Cunningham Road without restrictions, but those through Wainivula Road can only make a left turn.

Meanwhile drivers travelling towards Nausori have been provided one of the two lanes.

The Water Authority of Fiji says they are working on a deteriorated wastewater pipe, which caused the sinkhole and closure of the road.

WAF says they will be able to determine if it requires repairs or a replacement once they have fully exposed the pipe and have access to the cause of the problem.

They are working with Fiji Roads Authority, who are assisting WAF with excavating the road for them.

No time frame has been given on when this will be completed.

FRA says the work is expected to be completed, by tomorrow.
