Total of 4 people drowned during Easter weekend

Four people lost their lives due to drowning over the Easter Weekend.

Out of the four, the youngest victim was a 5 year old boy from Rewa who is believed to have fallen into the sea when he was allegedly pushed by another child.

The latest victim was a 34 year old school teacher of Savusavu who died while swimming with friends at the Devodara Picnic Spot in Savusavu on Sunday.

A 22-year-old mariner drowned on Friday when he allegedly jumped off the ship for a swim after a drinking party.

In Nausori, the body of a 42 year old electrician was found floating in a creek beside the old Nausori Court House on Saturday.

The drowning toll currently stands at 24 of which eight victims were under the age of 10.
