Total of 294 traffic offences recorded this weekend

A total of 294 traffic offences have been recorded so far this long weekend.

Police Director Traffic, SSP Mahesh Mishra says 207 people were given speeding tickets, 11 booked for careless driving , 17 taken into custody for drunk driving and 59 people have been booked for other traffic offences.

Mishra says out of the 17 taken into custody for drunk driving 7 of them were taken into custody last night.

He says five cases were from the western division while two were from the central division in relation to drunk driving.

According to Mishra the 10 people who were in custody for drunk driving from Thursday night and Friday have been produced in court.

SSP Mishra is reminding the passengers that it is their duty to ensure that their drivers are sober and are not speeding.

He adds it is also the drivers responsibility to make sure passengers reach their destination safely as their passengers life depends on them.
