Tikaram Park has been declared a solar power park by the Minister for Infrastructure and Local government Praveen Bala.
Bala announced this during the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Lami Town at Tikaram Park today.
He says the council shall now be progressing to have solar streetlights installed in the central business district.
He adds that the Lami Town Council has arranged for solar parking meters and they are expected to be installed within four weeks.
Special Administrator Jasper Singh says they are planning to extend the Tikaram Park by 10 to 12 meters to hold festivals.
Bala has confirmed that the government will be funding the land development for Tikaram Park.
He urged the people of Lami Town to continue working and supporting their Municipal Council in advancing the town development.
During the celebration, there were five awards given as well for the oldest female and male ratepayer, cleanest compound in Lami and the settlement or village that pay their garbage collection fee.
