Thousands of people in parts of Lautoka currently experiencing low to no water

Thousands of people living in parts of Lautoka are experiencing low water pressure to no water from today.

The Water Authority of Fiji has confirmed that the interruption in water supply is due to blocked intake from the heavy rain last night causing no inflow into to Nalau and Buabua reservoirs.

The WAF diving team is currently clearing debris that is causing the blockage.

People have been urged by WAF to conserve and always store sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least two to three days in their homes at all times and to use water wisely during this period.

Areas affected include Matawalu, Teidamu, Johnson, Drasa, Vitogo, Paiapi, Naviago, Drasa Dam Road, Qalitu, Lovu, Vatamai, Buabua, Naikabula, Koroipita, Lovu hart and Lovu sea side

WAF say water carting trucks are on standby and can be requested in case of an emergency by calling 5777.
