The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission CEO, Joel Abraham, who is also the Chairman of the Bus Fare Review Committee says they are collecting data month in and month out to ensure that they have the right details.

Abraham says they have done preliminary calculations however they have noticed that there is an importance to get more data through the e-ticketing system.

Meanwhile, the Attorney-General and the Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while delivering the 2018-2019 National Budget address revealed that the e-transport system has taken public transportation into the 21st century.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the system has recorded ten million transactions a month.

The Bus fare Review Committee Chairman says that once the committee is satisfied with the data that they have collected, the committee will then be making submissions to the minister responsible.

Abraham has also assured the people of Fiji that the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is committed into seeing that the prices of fruits and vegetables come down as per the reduction in its duty.

During the 2018-2019 National Budget, duty on all imported fruits and vegetables had been reduced from 5% to 0%.
