The Fijian society is not doing enough to protect women - PM
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the Fijian society is not doing enough to protect women and girls or give them an equal shot at bettering their lives which is not acceptable.

Bainimarama highlighted this during the opening of the Adi Natuicake Festival.

He says government is actively combatting those backwards mentalities in the society that are holding our women back.

Bainimarama says they have poured resources into programmes that bring women to the forefront of our national development.

The Prime Minister says government has increased this year's budget allocation for women’s resources in the Lau Group by having increased centers, expos and income generating projects by $100,000 to continue the work they are carrying out in islands to uplift women in society.
