A two-month-old Texas girl with injection marks has died after testing positive for heroin.

She was rushed to Shannon Medical Centre after police found her unconscious at a residence in west Texas last Saturday.

Police say medical staff found injection marks on her extremities and head, and her urine tested positive for heroin.

Later that day, she was transported to Cook Children's Medical Center and placed on life support.

The infant's mother, along with the girl's grandmother, and the boyfriend of the infant's mother have been arrested,

All three have been charged with causing serious bodily injury to a child.
