Tenders awarded for road completion
After waiting for more than 11 years, residents travelling along the Kings Road and Lodoni Road will be relieved to know that the Public Works Department (PWD) has awarded a tender to a Malaysian company and a local company to complete the road by December 2011.

Works Minister Timoci Natuva said the 11km upgrading of Kings Road from Waito to Wailotua has been given to Naim Cendera Shd of Malaysia, for more than $36 million.

Natuva said the 2nd tender for 29km from the Kings Road to Lodoni Road base course and seal contract, has been given to Fairdeal Earth Moving Contractors Ltd for more than $23 million while Standard Concrete Industry Limited has been given a contract to supply sub base material and base course material for more than $14 million.

He said the completion of the road project will contribute to positive economic activity and growth and create around a 1,000 jobs.
