Two existing classrooms of Saint Thomas Primary School in Lautoka are now having their class in tents due to a severe infestation of termites in their classroom.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Education’s Asset Infrastructure Services Unit responded to a request from the management of the school to deliver two high-performance tents to serve as temporary classrooms.

They say these affected classrooms are scheduled for demolition to make way for the construction of a new 1x2 classroom block.

They also highlighted that the two 72-metre square tents were installed on the school grounds to accommodate students from two existing classrooms.

They added that the temporary tents will ensure that learning continues uninterrupted while the damaged classrooms are safely removed and preparations begin for the construction of a new 1x2 classroom block.

They add that work is being carried out in coordination with the school management and relevant stakeholders.
