Telecom pays outstanding bills to FINTEL

There is confirmation that following discussions with the Commerce Commission, Telecom Fiji Limited has paid its outstanding bills of more than $250,000 to FINTEL on Friday.

FINTEL Chief Executive Officer, Iowane Koroivuki said that they met with Telecom this morning to ensure that no further disruption to services happen in future.

Meanwhile, Commerce Commission is still working on details in relation to the dispute between FINTEL and Telecom Fiji which affected a number of businesses including international flights on Friday.

Chairman Dr. Mahendra Reddy said that a final warning has been given to FINTEL adding both companies provide internet services and for FINTEL to disconnect Telecom=s internet business is totally unacceptable.

On Friday FINTEL had cut off Telecom=s access to the Southern Cross cables and as a result, number of international flights out of the Nadi International Airport was delayed for close to two hours as a result of the disruption.
