Teams gear up for rugby showdown as spot for the Fiji Bitter Labasa 7s remain open

As many Fijians remain in a celebratory mood, the Dimension Brothers' 7s team, Western Exile, Nasolo Young Boys, VBM Black Heron, and Ambassador Rugby are among the teams that have secured their spots in the Fiji Bitter Labasa 7s.

Tournament Committee member Joseph Koi says top teams are finalising their registrations, with confirmation due next week and spots still available.

Koi says the aim of the tournament is to build a gym that will encourage the youths in their community to participate in the sports of rugby and steer clear of drugs.

40 men's teams are expected to compete in the main cup competition, eight women's teams will participate in the women's category, and 16 U16-U18 teams will take part in this three-day tournament.

In the main cup competition will compete for the $7,000 prize money, while the women's category will have a $1,500 prize, and teams in the youth grade will compete for $2,000.

Teams wishing to register can contact Vika Vataniyaragi at 9464236 or Pateresio Racumu at 9104425.

The tournament will be held from Thursday, the 23rd, to Saturday, the 25th of this month at Subrail Park in Labasa.
