Team Fiji creates history after qualifying for the Men’s 4×100 metres swimming relay final

Team Fiji Swimming has created history after the Men’s 4×100 metres relay team qualified for the final for the first time in the Commonwealth Games.

The team which consists of Hansel McCaig, Epeli Rabua, Temafa Yalimaiwai and David Young came in fifth place during the heats.

Meanwhile, Team Fiji squash player Marika Matanatabu will meet Shawn Simpson of Barbados in the plate quarter-finals after defeating Chayse Mc Quan from Trinidad & Tobago in Round 2 at the Commonwealth Games this morning.

Matanatabu lost to Jake Kelly from the Cayman Island’s 3-1 in Round 1 of the Men's Singles but made a comeback against Othniel Bailey of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 3-2 in the plate division.

Team Fiji have won two silver medals, from the Men’s 7s and Fijiana 7s team.

Australia continues to lead the medal tally with 22 gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze and England is in second place with 11 gold, 16 silver and 7 bronze.
