Teachers salaries are now being reviewed along with other civil servants.
Speaking at the 2017/2018 National Budget Consultation at Tailevu North College, Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum says the government is doing an overall review of salaries of all civil servants throughout Fiji and teachers are also included in it.
This is after a request was made to the Minister for Economy to look into the current salary of teachers.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says the civil service salary review started last year after they compared what people in the private sector and civil service were being paid.
He says the issues raised at the Budget Consultation in Korovou will be looked into with various ministries.
