Teacher remanded for allegedly hitting a student with her car

A primary school teacher has been remanded in custody by the Labasa Magistrates Court after allegedly hitting a student with her car while crossing a zebra crossing two weeks ago.

Shaleshni Lata Singh appeared before Labasa Magistrate Amelia Vavadua this afternoon.

Singh is charged with one count of dangerous driving and one count of dangerous driving causing a reckless and negligent act.

She will appear in court again tomorrow for the bail hearing.

The 12 year old boy is still admitted at CWM Hospital with serious injuries.
