Taxi operators seek increase in fares
Taxi drivers are seeking an increase in fares as the new pricing for fuel will come into effect next Monday.

Fiji Taxi Union General Secretary Rishi Ram said at the moment the taxi fare drop distance is 10 cents for every 200 meters and they are seeking a reduction to 100 meters.

Ram said the taxi industry will collapse, as no fare was fully granted for almost a decade and it is not profitable to operate taxi business under the present fare structure.

Meanwhile, Ram revealed that some taxi owners have taken the drastic step of stopping operation.
