Land Transport Authority.

The Land Transport Authority of Fiji Chairman, James Sowane says all taxi operators and drivers are to continue to comply with their respective Public Service Vehicle Permit conditions until the Ministry of Transport advises otherwise.

Sowane says the official date of commencement for the Open Rank System which changes the rules regarding the operation of taxi stands will be announced by the ministry.

He says until such time, they ask that taxi drivers and operators continue to follow the existing rules and avoid unnecessary confrontations.

Sowane says during this transition phase, government will continue to pay for the base and stand fees as announced in the budget.

LTA is urging taxi operators and drivers to be patient and calm during the transition phase of the amendments to the Land Transport Act.
