Many taxi drivers are taking COVID precautionary measures such as wearing masks and enforcing social distancing to battle the spread of the virus.

People have contacted fijivillage and highlighted to us how taxi drivers are wearing masks and offering hand sanitizers when they enter the taxi.

Fiji Taxi Association’s General Secretary Ashwin Lal says their drivers have been applying the directives that have been given by the Health Ministry.

Lal says most of the time they are carrying three passengers as it enables them to have social distancing and if there are four passengers, they are from the same family.

He further says they have had instances, where passengers have turned up without masks and drivers, have told them to either buy a mask or the service will not be provided.
