Thank you mum for all the things that you do for me.

Eleni Vua, the mother of the late year 9 student Eliki Delai who got run over by a bus in an accident in Davota, Tavua, says those were the last words of her son to her before he left home for school that morning.

Vua told fijivillage News this afternoon that her son woke her up at 5am in the morning to prepare for school and she recalled those final moments he spent with her, encouraging her to get him ready before the bus came at 7.20am on that fateful morning.

She could not contain her emotions as she recalled his final words thanking her for all that she did for him and she says it felt like he knew he was going for good and it hurts her badly.

Vua has two daughters, and Eliki is the second eldest and the only boy she relied on so much at home. The mother of three, who hails from Ra, says her son had a big heart and always helped others.

Minister for Transport Ro Filipe Tuisawau has directed the Land Transport Authority to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure measures are taken to prevent similar occurrences.

Police say the boy was travelling in a bus from Waikubukubu to Tavua Town, and upon reaching a designated stop, he got off to make room for other passengers to disembark.

It is alleged that when the bus started to move, the boy ran after it, slipped and was run over by the bus.
