Taunovo Bay Resort staff on strike

Taunovo Bay Resort staff on strike
The Taunovo Bay Resort staff have gone on strike this afternoon as they claim they have not been paid.

An employee confirms that 62 out of the 107 employees are currently on strike claiming that those that are paid on an hourly basis have not received their pay since November 15th and permanent staff have not received their pay since December.

The employee goes on to say that even the telephone lines and company mobile lines have been disconnected as the bills have not been paid.

He adds that it is very frustrating to see the employees working very hard, while the owners are just partying away, and even those who get paid receive less than half of their salary.

The frustrated employee also confirms that Ministry of Labour officials visited the Taunovo Bay Resort a fortnight ago. However nothing has been resolved.

All phone lines to the owners and managers of Taunovo Bay Resort are disconnected.

The Ministry of Labour has confirmed receiving the report and are looking into the matter, and is expected to make a decision on Monday.

Taunovo Bay Resort was officially opened by the former President, Ratu Josefa Iloilo less than a year ago.
