The stage is set for the biggest school stage show in the South pacific as hundreds of primary school students prepare to take the stage in the Junior Division finals of the FM96 Tadra Kahani with TFL and Legend FM this evening.
100's of primary school students gathered at the Vodafone arena this morning for final rehearsals and excitement, nervousness and shyness were some of the feelings of the primary school students.
Saving our Environment, Child Abuse and Preserving our culture are some of the messages the students will be portraying tonight.
New comers all the way from Mokani village Tailevu, Ratu Ravuama Primary School class eight student, Salaseini Vueti said they are excited to showcase a real story, the history of their village to the public.
From Mokani to Nakelo.
It is every child's dream that they have people around them who will always protect them.
That is a critical need for any child as they are the most vulnerable in the society.
With that in mind, students of Nakelo District School will tonight portray their theme AThrowing daylight on tomorrow's darkness.
"A message on Child Abuse" in the Junior Division finals of Tadra Kahani.
According to statistics from Save the Children, Police and Social Welfare Ministry there are already 77 reported child sexual abuse cases for the first quarter of this year compared to 54 reported cases in 2008 and 116 cases last year.
Last year, there were a total of 181 reported child abuse cases.
These cases included negligence, physical abuse and emotional abuse.
Liaison teacher for Nakelo District School, Niumaia Rawalai said the students from Nakelo want to ensure that people stand up and take action after seeing their performance.
Rawalai said the issue of child abuse needs to be addressed urgently.
From Nakelo to Nadi.
Running away from school and home will not solve problems faced by students.
Nadi Airport school, Liaison teacher, Eloni Toutou said they are first timers in the Tadra Kahani, as they will be performing tonight on the theme "Life of a lost child, From the negative circumstances of life there is hope."
Toutou said students came up with this theme for Tadra Kahani after one student ran away from classes and from his parents earlier this year.
About 80 students from classes five to eight of Nadi Airport school will be taking part in Tadra Kahani tonight.
Nadi Airport School, Drasa Avenue School, St Joseph the Worker, Ratu Ravuama Memorial School, International Primary School Suva, Rishikul Primary, Bainivalu Primary, St Agnes Primary, Nakelo District School and title holders Pacific Harbor Multi-Cultural School will take to the stage in the Tadra Kahani Junior Division finals tonight.
Tickets are being sold at the home of Legend FM at 231 Waimanu Road, Village Six Cinemas Suva and the Sugar Cane Growers Council building in Lautoka.
And with only two hours left, the sale of tickets at the main ticket booths are just overwhelming.
Organiser, Total Event Company Manager, Loretta Jackson said yesterday more than two thousand tickets were sold in a short spam of time.
She added that there is definitely a feeling of great excitement especially from the new schools.
Gates to the Vodafone arena opens this hour and tickets are also available from the main gate.
The first school will take the stage at 7 o'clock tonight.
