Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama says the tabua that was recently handed over from the New Zealand government is safe in the TLTB Office.

Bainimarama was responding to a question in parliament by SODELPA MP, Adi Litia Qionibaravi who had asked what was the current status of the tabua that was handed over by the New Zealand government.

Qionibaravi then asked Bainimarama as to why these tabua is not being returned to the people it was confiscated from to which Bainimarama said that they were confiscated which means it was illegally taken out and there is no need for it to be returned.

He also highlighted that there is a establishment of a tabua shop within the i-taukei affairs which is a mechanism in place to make sure there is sufficient tabua in circulation to meet the cultural needs.
