Suva residents to experience water cuts
People living in parts of Suva and surrounding areas will be experiencing water cuts and low water pressure until Sunday due to a 300 mm main burst along the Grantham road.

The Water Authority of Fiji said the burst main has affected their Flaggstaff and Toorak Reservoirs and as a result areas such as Raiwasa, Laucala Bay Road, upper areas of Toorak, Waimanu road, Raojibhai Patel street and Robertson are affected.

According to Water Authority of Fiji the burst main along the Grantham Road is underground which runs together with Fiji Electricity Authority’s main underground power line.

The Authority said the reason the burst main cannot be repaired now as FEA will have to shut down its main underground power line and it will be done this weekend.

Water trucks are expected to continue to cart water to the affected areas from 8am to 10pm daily until supply is restored.

Meanwhile, according to FEA, they will switch off the power line to allow Water Authority to Fiji to work on the burst main tomorrow.

However there is no confirmation as to which areas will be affected when FEA turns of the power line to allow Water Authority of Fiji to continue its work.
