Continuous efforts of a concerned neighbour led to the arrest of a man from Suva for his alleged involvement in a robbery in Waiwai in Ba early this morning.
Police say the concerned individual heard a commotion at his neighbour’s house and noticed a vehicle that was new to the area that was moving around in a suspicious manner.
A couple in their 50s was allegedly robbed in their home in the interior of Waiwai and forcefully taken in their vehicle by unknown suspects to Lautoka where their car was abandoned.
The neighbour noticed the driver of the vehicle who is believed to have transported the suspects to the area and alerted police and pursued the suspect in his own car towards Yalalevu, Ba.
The suspect who is believed to be in his 30s lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road near Yalalevu where Police managed to take him into custody.
The couple who was found in Lautoka with their car is now receiving medical treatment in Lautoka Hospital.
Investigations continue and a team has been tasked to locate and identify the suspects involved in the early morning robbery.
Police will interview the couple later to ascertain what all was robbed from their house.
