A suspect is in police custody, while the hunt continues for another after a Police vehicle was allegedly stoned last night along Ratu Mara Road, Nabua.

Police say the motive behind the attack remains unclear but have assured the public that they are treating the matter seriously.

They say the incident, which unfolded at Nabua Muslim League settlement, saw one of their patrol vehicles come under attack, prompting swift action from law enforcement.

The Southern Division Task Force arrested the suspect and is pursuing the second suspect, whose identity is known to the Police.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says such incidents will not be condoned, and the public is urged to cooperate with police in working together towards crime prevention and reduction efforts.

He says officers are working around the clock to arrest the second suspect and such incidents against police officers and the organisation's efforts towards service delivery will not be taken lightly, as it derails the momentum of service delivery.

Tudravu says we need to be working together, and not against each other if we are to achieve the overall intent of safe communities for all.

The suspect is being questioned at the Nabua Police Station.
