Sugar cane farmers urged to register for insurance with Sugar Cane Growers Fund and FSC

The Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has urged sugar cane farmers around the country to register for their insurance with the Sugar Cane Growers Fund and Fiji Sugar Corporation which will help them when the need arises.

Sayed-Khaiyum says farmers will receive many benefits from the insurance.

He says that if a farmer is sick and he is not able to work and his cane production decreases, he will be eligible to apply for $2,000.

The Minister also says that this insurance will also cover for incidents where a farmer’s house is burnt or if there is a death in the family.

Sayed Khaiyum highlights that this insurance is free and the farmers will not have to pay any amount.

Meanwhile the Minister for Economy and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was in the Northern Division to handover a  Mechanical harvester that will assist cane farmers and also held talanoa sessions with the farmers to listen to their grievances.
