The abuse of government resources was a topic of discussion at the National Budget Consultation at Suva Grammar School.

A Year 13 student of Suva Sangam College asked the Attorney General and Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum on how the government plans to ensure that hospitals are fully equipped through the 2017 National Budget.

The Minister for Finance replied by saying that we have a huge issue with stealing.

Sayed-Khaiyum said there have been instances where staff and patients have allegedly walked away with items at the hospital.

He said it is our collective responsibility to ensure that this does not happen.

Students also raised issues that they faced after Cyclone Winston and also the prioritisation of resources to schools around the country.

Close to 300 students were present at the consulation.
