Strong economy will address any impact of USAID cut and tariffs – Prof. Prasad

Strong economy will address any impact of USAID cut and tariffs – Prof. Prasad

Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad

Our policies are very sound, fundamentals are rights and economy is strong and if there are any effects, we will deal with it.

This has been made clear by Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad as U.S. President Donald Trump cuts aid through USAID to various countries, including Fiji and is imposing tariffs on imports from other countries.

While responding to questions by fijivillage News, Professor Prasad says they are mindful of what is happening with respect to the policies of the US Government.

He says they would obviously be concerned about aid reduction to NGO’s for various projects in Fiji and the Pacific.

Professor Prasad says they are carefully watching and analyzing the economic impact of tariffs.
