Storm hold off Panthers 30-24 in grand final rematch

The Melbourne Storm survived a second-half comeback from defending champion, the Penrith Panthers, to win 30-24 in the NRL last night.

The Storm started strong with tries to Grant Anderson and Eliesa Katoa to lead 12-0.

Nick Meaney converted a penalty to put them ahead 14-0.

Panthers Paul Alamoti scored a double to close the gap to 14-10 at halftime.

The Panthers scored first in the second half through Casey McLean in the 44th minute, however, the Storm responded through Xavier Coates to keep them in the lead.

Tyran Wishart scored another to put the Storm out of reach.

The Panthers did not give up so easily, and star winger Brian To'o scored a double to keep the defending champions in the game.

Ryan Papenhuyzen's try in the 72nd minute sealed the win for the Storm.

In other matches, the Warriors will face the Roosters at 7 tonight, and the Broncos will meet the Cowboys at 9 tonight.
