Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said people should stop creating issues that do not exist in relation to iTaukei land when it comes to the land bank system.
While responding to questions raised by former Permanent Secretary for Works, Anasa Vocea in the draft constitution session in Nasinu, Sayed-Khaiyum said the government is not taking over i-Taukei land under the land bank system.
Vocea said he wants to know why the Prime Minister is making the decision on this.
However, Sayed-Khaiyum said people like Vocea should read the Land Use Decree as the same system applies as land leased under the i-Taukei Land Trust Board but under the land bank system, the i-Taukei landowners get more as they are paid rent on market rates and there is no 15% land management fees deduction on the rental.
Sayed-Khaiyum stresses that no one is trying to take over i-Taukei land.
