Springboks camp hit by positive COVID-19 test

The Springboks camp has been hit by a positive COVID-19 test with two players removed ahead of this weekend’s trial for the Rugby Championship.

The world champion Springboks have an expanded squad in Cape Town and are giving assurances that everything is “safe and secure” despite Cheetahs player Oupa Mohoje testing positive for the coronavirus.

The 30-year-old Mohoje, who can play flanker or lock with 19 tests to his credit, is reportedly asymptomatic.

Trevor Nyakane, who has been in close contact with Mohoje, has also been withdrawn as a precaution.

The positive test in the Springboks camp follows numerous Argentina players testing positive for COVID-19.

The Pumas are also set to be involved in the revamped 2020 Rugby Championship which is being held in Australia in November and December.

The Rugby Championship will begin on the 7th of November with Argentina taking on South Africa and the Wallabies facing the All Blacks.
