Speeding, driver fatigue, careless driving & over consumption of alcohol are main causes of accidents - Police

Speeding, driver fatigue, careless driving and over consumption of alcohol have been the main causes of accidents on our roads this year.

Fiji Police Force says of the 21 fatal accidents so far this year, the majority have occurred during the weekend, at night and into the early hours of the morning.

They say it is a busy weekend of activities and if plans are for a long drive to visit families, watch one of the many sporting tournaments or just a relaxing time with friends, please be careful.

The Police are urging pedestrians to be cautious and take all necessary safety precautionary measures too.
