Speaker of Parliament Doctor Jiko Luveni has now confirmed that she has referred a matter of privilege to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee.
Doctor Luveni announced this in parliament today and she will now await the committee’s recommendation.
The Parliamentary Secretariat has not released details on the matter of privilege and the MP concerned.
Chairman of the Privileges Committee Ruveni Nadalo says he is yet to receive the file and they may have their first meeting about the issue later this afternoon.
Nadalo says he cannot confirm when they will report back to parliament.
The Speaker said yesterday that she has received a notification on a matter of privilege.
She said that she needed time to look into the issue.
