Speaker asks members to be punctual during Parliament sitting

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Doctor Jiko Luveni said she has observed over several of the last Parliament sittings that some members have arrived late.

While opening the Parliament session this morning, Dr. Luveni told the members of the Parliament that this is regrettable and has asked all members to make every endeavor to arrive on time and be seated before proceedings commence with the saying of prayer.

She then asked all the Parliamentarians not to leave the chamber for lengthy periods wherever possible.

Dr. Luveni also drew Parliamentarians attention to the discourteous use of language in the chamber.

Meanwhile, Dr Luveni offered her apologies to the Parliament for not strictly following the prayer required under the Standing Orders on Monday.

She told the members of the Parliament that such an error will not occur again.
