Minister for Education, Premila Kumar says they have reviewed the curriculum materials for Fiji Hindi and Vosa Vakaviti after finding out there was some confusion and that some of the terminology used in these subjects were not common terms used at home.

While speaking at Natabua Primary School today, Kumar says there are some schools who are teaching Fiji Hindi to Indo Fijian children and Vosa Vakaviti to iTaukei students.

She says that’s not what it was meant to be as it was supposed to be taught the other way around as they are conversational languages.

Kumar adds they also do not need special teachers to teach these two subjects to children as the teachers who can speak iTaukei and Fiji Hindi can teach these two conversational subjects to students.
