A few of the 15 senior students of Ratu Kadavulevu School who allegedly assaulted 14 junior students have been questioned by police again and released.

Police have confirmed that some of these students were called in for questioning again and they are still investigating the matter.

The senior students aged between 16 and 18 years allegedly beat 14 junior students with a stick on the 3rd of this month.

Police say three of the junior students were medically examined.

When questioned if any action will be taken against the senior students if they are found guilty, Minister for Education Rosy Akbar says schools follow the student code of conduct policy to address such behaviour.

Akbar had previously said that bullying in hostels is common and there are strict punishment for bullies.

The Minister says students and teachers are not to hide any case of bullying in schools and hostels.

She further says parents are to teach discipline to students at home and those who display indiscipline is a reflection of their parents.

Akbar adds they do not want parents to take students home and then to find another school.
