Some politicians and church pastors have influenced people in Bua to not get vaccinated – Advisory Councillor

The Advisory Councillor of Lekutu District in Bua, Mohammed Farukh says unfortunately some politicians and church pastors have influenced some people in Bua not to get vaccinated for COVID-19 by saying it can affect them and their family and that they should only believe in God.

Farukh says he does not know these politicians but the villagers from Lekutu Village have told him that the politicians and church pastors have been telling them not to get vaccinated.

He says this is a major risk for the residents of Bua.

Farukh also told fijivillage that some people ran into the bushes in Bua when the vaccination team arrived in their area.

Farukh says he can see more people are coming forward to get vaccinated as more awareness is now being carried out by the Bua Provincial Council and District Officers from Nabouwalu.

He says people from Viti Levu who are travelling to the North are also trying to get the people in Bua vaccinated.

Around 5,000 people reside in the Lekutu district.
