Some parties ridiculed the Prime Minister when he said a lockdown will not work - AG
Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says one of the political parties in the country had said that we must follow New Zealand and do a lockdown however New Zealand has just come out and said that a lockdown will not work.

New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had announced this week that they will begin to move away from a zero-Covid strategy towards living with the highly contagious Delta variant.

Sayed-Khaiyum says New Zealand has said that a lockdown will not work and they will have to live with COVID-19.

He says Fiji's Prime Minister had said this months ago but some political parties tried to ridicule him for that.

Sayed-Khaiyum adds these people do not have long term solutions.
