Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection and National Federation Party member, Sashi Kiran, has clarified that the government is not reducing social welfare support.

Kiran says the number of social welfare recipients has increased from 96,000 to over 107,000, proving that support is growing, not shrinking.

She says they are working to clear outdated records by removing double entries, ensuring that assistance reaches those who truly need it.

The Minister says they are addressing longstanding issues like homelessness by using real solutions such as income generating initiatives, vocational training and better housing support.

Kiran further says that the government's commitment to strengthening social protection systems and ensuring no one is left behind.

She adds that the NFP proudly supports the government’s efforts to create a fairer, more compassionate Fiji.
