The Social Pension Scheme allowance will remain at $100.00 per month and if you have received a lower allowance than usual, then you must contact the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation for assistance.

The Ministry has clarified that there will be no reduction in the allowance after SODELPA MP Niko Nawaikula had posted on his Facebook page that the Social Pension Scheme for senior citizens has been reduced from $100 a month to $80 and $52.

Nawaikula says he received a call from a distraught pensioner complaining that his old age pension that is usually $100 per month was reduced to $80 when he checked at the ATM to collect last month.

He says when he checked this month, it was further reduced to $52.

The Ministry says any changes regarding any schemes will be made known by the Ministry officials.
